In addition to being given the job title 'interim manufacturing manager', you may also find yourself working on interim food manufacturing roles such as interim production manager or interim operations manager. These roles typically involve looking after the whole production facility at a manufacturing site and may also involve managing after the engineering department.

Like any role in a food manufacturing facility, the actual remit of an interim manufacturing manager depends on the size of the company, type of company, future plans and also the reason you, as an interim, have been called in to provide assistance. It may be that both the manufacturing manager and engineering manager have left the business, therefore meaning you are required to manage both departments.

As an interim manufacturing manager you will have a number of people reporting directly into you. This is likely to include shift managers and line leaders. An interim manufacturing manager may report into the factory manager or general manager, although this is likely to depend on the size of the business, amongst other factors.
